About

Serial No.2092
Reg No PSU 751
One of the first hundred to be produced. Supplied by H Plowright of Swaffham.
Marshall’s first single-cylinder two-stroke diesel tractor, the Model M received a revamp in 1945 with the launch of the new “Field Marshall”.
Much of the design was completely new with strengthened components to absorb the additional power provided by the 38 bhp engine. The tractor had new styling and the raised driving platform offered better visibility for the operator and easier access to the controls.
A cartridge-starting device was fitted, as an alternative to the starting handle and decompressor acting on the threaded flywheel.
Both starting methods require the insertion of a smouldering salt petre blotting paper into the cylinder head.

There was also a Mark 2 Contractor’s model. Just over 2,000 of both versions were built.
