Made in New York, USA, the ER1 range of compressors was introduced in 1926 and came in a variety of sizes. These machines are single stage, water cooled and double acting, achieving a twin cylinder performance from a single piston.
This compressor is an 8inch stroke machine with a 9inch bore, producing 145CFM at 60 – 100PSI. Operating speed is a leisurely 250RPM and requires a 25 HP power source for maximum performance.
2 Rogler spring loaded plate valves of identical design at each side of the piston control the air flow, mounted in opposite directions to accommodate suction and compression strokes.
New laser cut valve plates were sourced, from Batley, £5.00 each!
Compressor obtained from Great Yarmouth in 1995 where it was driven by the Lister JP4, also on display.
