About

A 4 cylinder petrol/paraffin engined tractor.
Reg No EAJ 184, no number plates.
The Fordson E27N Major was launched on 19 March 1945 replacing the Fordson standard Model N.
Although the engine remained the same apart from extra power gained by an increase in the governed engine speed, the worm and wheel differential was replaced with a conventional crown-wheel and pinion and a more efficient single-plate clutch was fitted.
Three models were available: the standard agricultural, the Land Utility and the rowcrop.
The rear tread width could also be altered by turning the dished wheel centres.
Production ceased in 1952, after 236,470 units had been built.
This tractor is thought to date from 1952.
Sourced from Holmfirth, March 1986.
