About

8*4 Rigid Lorry
MTD 410
Well, what’s left of it. New and first registered in late 1950 / early 1951, eventually in the ownership of R Edwards showmen of Swinden.
Originally with an S18 cab.
Named Earl Kitchener, a name subsequently transferred to a Foden S20 Reg No XYY 717, and now at Dingle’s Steam Village, in a better state than this.
Previously part of the Roger Austen Fairground collection
The siezed engine restored Feb 2017, with a few rings, a couple of valves, some brute force and a lot of patience.
Bulkhead and front grill repaired/ renewed.
Clutch freed off and new hoses and seals fitted to braking system. Also new tyres- no expense spared.
Where are the drive axles? Probably scrapped for their phospher bronze value.
A nice display showing how many restoration projects start.

Sourced from Kebworth Leicester Dec 2016.
