About

Reg. No. AWX 369, First registered 11/02/1936
Chassis No. JS127
Liveried for Thomas Wilkinson & Son, supplied to them new in 1936 and sold in 1950. It eventually found it’s way into the hands of Bailey’s quarry near Keighley. In the late 1970’s / early 1980’s Richard Wilkinson negotiated to buy back the lorry for restoration. The asking price was based on scrap value plus profit. £30.00 was asked and £30.00 was swiftly paid.

The lorry was stored at Wilkinsons yard in Keighley only to be set on fire by children. The restoration then required complete new cab, new body and repaint.
The tax disc holder has discs dating back to 1939.
Note the order of the driver’s pedals, accelerator between brake and clutch.

A further chapter in it’s history is that the body had been left in a raised position at the paint shop to make the painters life a little easier. On collecting the vehicle the engine was started and had it not been for a very observant child, the tipper would have gone through the paint shop roof. Yes the PTO had been left in gear!
