Here's something a little different, a Calddozer. Made by Aveling Barford of Grantham. A Calfdozer because it is smaller than a Bulldozer. Single Cylinder Armstrong Siddeley Diesel Engine. If ever a machine justified a seat belt, this would be it.

Blue Slate Hole Punch

Adjustable blue slate nail hole punch, which would offer uniformity in the position of the holes and help to deliver straight lines on the roof. All you have to do is insert the slate against the stop and wind the threaded punch.

Bristol Crawler Jowett Engine Tractor

Bristol 10 Crawler tractor with a flat 4, side valve Jowett engine. This tractor is from the 1930's. Later machines were fitted with Austin 10 engines, of which there was an ample post war supply. The Front driven sprockets made these machines a safe option for working on inclines.

A 5 Gallon Castrol Oil Drum. This is not painted but the steel was embossed before the drum was formed.

Crossley HD14 99Hp

99 Horsepower Crossley engine, made in Manchester. A nice exhibit, complete with it's original starting bar, fuel tank, air receiver, starting compressor and exhaust assembly.

Diamond 1943 T M20-981

Diamond T model M20 - 981 Provided in large numbers (about 5,000) by the US in WWII, not only to the UK but to all Allied Forces. This is a beast of a machine , it's 14.7 litre Hercules Diesel engine and 12 speed transmission does make it something special. Designed to pull the Rodgers M9 trailer carrying a 50 ton payload on it's 24 wheels. Has to be driven to be appreciated.

A 1931 Scammell tug with the engine, gearbox and drive axle close coupled and linked to the rear wheels by chain drives, this gave an option for different gear ratios by changing the sprocket size. Featuring Scammell's own 4 cylinder petrol engine with a full width in cab petrol tank!

You can't get much further north than this, the lighthouse at Ness (Nis), the Butt of the Isle of Lewis. 526 miles from base and a ferry trip from Isle of Skye to Harris and Lewis. At a leisurely pace a 2 week round trip!

Scammell Highwayman with Machinery Carrier trailer pulling up the A62 at Standedge, above Marsden. A main Yorkshire - Lancashire route prior to the opening of the M62. Like so many trucks of it's time powered by the Gardner 6LW. Geared to give a top speed of less than 30MPH hills aren't a problem.

Scammell Rigid 6 photographed next to Lockwood viaduct in Huddersfield. An impressive stone structure,120 ft high, the viaduct was built in 4 years and completed in 1850. Over the years a challenge to throw a cricket ball over it has been successfully achieved on several occasions.

A unique truck taking a well earned rest at The Carriage House, having climbed the long pull up Standedge on the A62 west of Huddersfield. At 8 / 10 MPH she made steady progress but got there in the end.

Thorneycroft , known as the "Mighty Antar" Made in 1964 in Basingstoke Widely adopted for military use, with 3 and half inch pin 5th wheel coupling for tank transporter trailer. 16 Litre supercharges Rolls Royce engine, designed for a gross trai weight of 100 tonnes+. 10ft 9 inches wide! Mighty in every sense of the word!
